Corona Virus 16032020

Dear Parents and Carers

We are continuing to monitor the outbreak of the COVID-19 Coronavirus and its potential impact on our students and the wider community. As of today, we are entering the Delay phase of management at national level.

New guidance states that anyone with a new continuous cough and/or a temperature (of above 37.8C) should self-isolate for seven days. If symptoms worsen during home isolation or are no better after seven days, you are advised to contact NHS111 online (www.111.nhs.uk).  If your child requires self-isolation you must let us know immediately; we will do everything we can to support.

Please do not send children into school if they have a new continuous cough and/or a temperature (of above 37.8C) and do not come to school yourself if you also have either of these symptoms. Anyone displaying these symptoms, including staff, will need to leave the school site as soon as possible. Parents and carers need to have plans in place to quickly collect their child if they are asked to collect their child from the school. We have to work together in order to reduce or slow down the potential impact of the virus.

If a student at CCS is confirmed as being infected with coronavirus

If we receive confirmation that one of our students has been infected with coronavirus, we will contact 111 / Public Health England. We will act on the advice given and undertake a risk assessment. In most cases, closure of the school will not be necessary, but this will be a decision made in line with advice on a case by case basis.

If CCS takes the decision to close

  1. Parents and carers will be informed of the decision via class Dojo and the website.
  2. Notices will be posted on the school Twitter feeds.
  3. Students will be informed of the decision to close and of the arrangements for remote teaching and learning.
  4. Work will be electronic. Students will be expected to complete work at home and engage fully with their education.  If you do not have access to the internet at home, please let the school know immediately.

What action has the school taken?

We have postponed educational visits and events such as Mother’s Day Celebration and class assemblies. Swimming has been suspended. Whole school worship has been suspended and pupils will be reflecting in class.  Visitors, staff and children are being asked to wash their hands upon entering the school and pupils are washing their hands more often.

These are unprecedented times and the information and guidelines from Government are being updated at least daily. I will keep you all informed of any updates via Class Dojo and the school website: www.christchurchstreatham-primary.lambeth.sch.uk.

It is vitally important that the school has all of your up to date telephone numbers and email addresses, so please contact the main school office if you need to update any contact information. I may have to send out information with very little notice, so please look out for messages from the school.

Finally, it is very important that we all protect the children from worry and upset. We have been reassuring the children and we will continue to do this.

Thank you for your cooperation and on-going support. I will be in contact again soon.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Nicky Zeronian-Dalley
